What makes our soap different? This bar is made with beautiful West Country tallow and local cold pressed rapeseed oil. Containing hand picked nettles from our farm in Cornwall, this soap comes unscented or with fresh, zingy peppermint essential oil to lift the spirit. The water is infused with local bay. Nettle is anti inflammatory, anti bacterial and is great for acne and sensitive skin. We collect and render the fat ourselves meaning we have complete control over provenance, quality and consistency.

What does it smell like? Cornish nettle is scented with pure peppermint oil so has a fresh, minty smell. It doesn't smell of beef fat as it's no longer beef fat! it's changed state through the addition of lye which turns the fat into soap (that's why you see 'sodium tallowate' on the ingredients rather than tallow - it's completely changed state!) Our scented pure tallow soaps only use pure essential oils so smell absolutely natural -no strong synthetic fragrance oils here.

What skin types might enjoy it? Great for normal to sensitive skin It doesn't leave skin tight, itchy or dry as some bar soaps can.

How is it made? In small batches here on our Cornish farm, we use the traditional cold process method of soap making with 100% natural ingredients

Are there any seed oils in the Pure Tallow Soap range?

In our Botanical Soap range we use grass fed tallow, cold pressed British rapeseed oil and spring water (lye creates these into soap) and essential oils to scent the soap. The rapeseed oil we use is from small regenerative farms in the West Country which cold press their oil to retain its colour and qualities (unlike highly processed standard rapeseed oil which uses heat and is another process entirely!) It is high in Vitamin E and deeply hydrates the skin. It contains essential fatty acids and is great at soothing irritated skin conditions.

Do you buy in tallow to make your products?

No we collect the raw beef fat from trusted farms in Cornwall and hand- render ourselves so we have complete control over the quality and consistency of our tallow. This is really important to us, see Our Story

How long does a soap last?

With every day use, a tallow soap (which is a nice hard soap and won't go sticky in the soap dish) will last about one month as your everyday hand soap or up to 2 months if using to shower and bathe

What sort of skin is tallow soap good for?

All skin types and especially sensitive. It is incredibly mild and tallow has a very simular fat profile to our own skin. I would recommend unscented such as Pure tallow or Malted Milk if you have particularly sensitive skin

Can I use for eczema and psoriasis?

Yes i would recommend the Pure Tallow unscented bar or Malted Milk for this and we have many reviews from customers who have had great success using our Pure tallow soap on their skin
